We lost my Aunt Karen today. My mother is heartbroken with grief to lose her younger sister is difficult. We lost my sister Theresa six years ago and I understand losing the other half of a lifetime of memories. She was with her husband and family and now we believe she is in heaven with the many other family members preparing a party when we arrive. Grief is a funny thing to navigate especially when you don’t understand the suffering that some endure. Our hearts will always know the laughter and generosity of my Aunt who would do anything for anyone in trouble or who needed help. Her family was the most important in her life. I will always cherish the many Christmas’ in her home and a feast for anyone who should drop by. Keeping Grandpa’s tradition of opening gifts at midnight and his special eggnog. Aunt Karen your voice and presence will be missed but your love and kindness are left with everyone you touched. We love you Aunt Karen you are free and like the song “I can only imagine,” while in the presence of God.
